September 11 is the return of Sunday School! This year will be a little different. Elementary age children will be in age-specific classes at 9:00 (with a large group gathering during the worship service). See youth info below. We are again offering three adult classes:

Marriage & Parenting (MAP) – the MAP class will focus on marriage this year, beginning with a study of Sacred Marriage: What if God Designed Marriage to Make Us Holy More Than to Make Us Happy? by Gary Thomas. Filled with practical insights, this helpful book shows God’s intention for marriage is to draw us closer to himself, and in loving him he makes us better lovers of one another. Meeting in the Conference Room.

Genesis: Foundation for a Biblical Worldview – this class will bring together two SLPC classes. Bill Clark has been teaching an OT class for years. Last year Dana Swieson and Tom Gilbert kicked off the Christian Worldview and Contemporary Issues class. This year, Bill and Dana are teaming up to teach Genesis 1-11. As Christians, how do we understand the world and our place in it? The answer to that question begins in the early chapters of Genesis. The goal of this class is to strengthen our Biblical worldview so that we better understand our role in the world and can speak the truth of the gospel in love and confidence to our culture. Along the way, our exploration will include issues such as the age of the earth, evolution, dinosaurs, and the relationship between science and faith. Bring your Bibles and all of your questions! Meeting in the Sanctuary.

What We Believe: Essentials of the Christian Faith – Pastors Rick Marshall and Dave White (along with SLPC elders) will teach this important class on the foundational beliefs of Christianity and how the gospel changes our lives. Using Sinclair Ferguson’s The Christian Life: A Doctrinal Introduction we’ll explore God’s redemptive work in salvation from his “calling” to the glorious return of Jesus. Don’t be scared by the word “doctrine”. At SLPC we believe all theology should be practical theology. Knowing these truths is life-transforming! Meeting in the Fellowship Hall.
