Gathering to worship during the pandemic has been challenging for everyone! The SLPC leadership appreciates the way our church family has heeded our protocols and demonstrated grace, love, and care for one another over these long months of masking.

Last Sunday the COVID committee reconvened to review our protocols. Based on the declining numbers in our area, we’ve decided to no longer require masks on Sunday mornings beginning on March 6th.

We’ve made that decision based on a number of factors:

  • Evidence that the omicron surge is quickly receding.
  • Severity of disease is much lower with omicron (which represents 99% of current US cases).
  • Vaccinations are widely available and most of our people have been vaccinated and/or developed natural antibodies.
  • Our local schools are mask-optional and have not recorded significant viral spread.
  • It is difficult to worship and fellowship together while being masked.
  • Members of SLPC have wisely self-evaluated and stayed home if they have been symptomatic and we trust everyone will to continue to do so.

Note: We will continue to stream the service to the Fellowship Hall where masks will be mandatory during the worship service to provide a safer location for attenders.
