YOUTH MINISTRY

By Jake Bier

“Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.” (Psalm 119:105)

Bible Study This past spring, I had the privilege of leading a Bible Study for 6th through 8th grade students at Delaware County Christian School during lunch.  Through our time together the students learned about apologetics and the importance of defending our faith.

We started by laying a strong foundation in Scripture, emphasizing the importance of knowing God’s Word.  This helped our youth understand that faith and reason are not at odds but are rather complementary aspects of a strong spiritual walk.

As the weeks progressed, we tackled essential apologetic topics such as: the existence of God; the problem of evil; the reliability of the Bible, and the resurrection. These are tough topics, but the students rose to the challenge!

Throughout the study, we held an open dialogue and encouraged students to express their questions.  They learned that it’s okay to have doubts, and that seeking answers can lead to a deeper faith.

This fall, I am planning to do another study with the middle school students.  Please be praying for me as I have this opportunity to disciple the next generation!

Congratulations Jake on your ordination that took place at Springton Lake Church on the afternoon of Sunday, September 10, 2023. As your church family, we celebrate you for all your hard work in your graduation from Westminster Theological Seminary, and for your achievement through the ordination process.  Our prayers are for you as you serve the Lord in ministry, and seek to bring glory to Him in Christ’s name.  We thank God for you, Ciara, and your children for being an integral part of our SLPC congregation.
