Common Threads — Fall 2023 Edition
From the Editor’s Desk ~ Kathryn Burling

Mission Statement: Our mission is to encourage, to bring hope, to unite our church body by weaving a common thread through our faith community in Christ—with our stories, prayers, and praises.

Advancing…Through the Year
“Seek my face,” My heart says to you, “Your face, Lord, do I seek.” (Psalm 27:8)

Fall Path As the season of summer turns to fall, we are engaged in visible changes — shorter days, longer nights, cooler weather, and schools opened to our children moving ahead in their continuing education. Our Fall 2023 “Common Threads” focuses on each of us, as believers, advancing in our Christian faith. Just as our students are being introduced to new concepts, new ideas, and learning challenges, so also are we adults continually advancing in our knowledge of our God, His goodness, and His ways -- as we diligently seek Him.

Open the “Pastor’s Note” for a “kid friendly” approach to how God speaks even to the youngest child. (Parents be sure to read this note from Pastor Rick to you and your children.) “Our Stories” contains a personal letter from a student of Carol Fenley’s recalling the valuable lessons he learned when he was in Carol’s kindergarten class many years ago. Also, the “Devotional” by Becki Marshall gets right to the heart of the ways our Bible studies grow us up in our knowledge and love of the Lord and His Word. Of course, in “Children’s Ministry” – “Roots and Shoots” -- our children are happily advancing in their learning of the faith through their Sunday classes, and Pastor Jake is not only instructing our “Youth” here at church, but he is also bringing wisdom and knowledge of the Lord to Delaware County Christian School students. Get to know our Springton Lake worship leader, David Calamaro, by reading his story in “Men’s Ministry.” Don’t miss his entry!

In fact, take the time to read each “quilt patch” and get connected with all the many things going on at Springton Lake Church. Grow in faith … and enjoy all that you will learn as you advance through this year with our Teacher and Lord – Jesus!
