Beginning on Sunday, March 20 to Easter we will set our focus on Jerusalem - where a great conflict awaits the Lord Jesus.  Three times in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke, Jesus tells his disciples what will happen to him in Jerusalem.   As the disciples approach the City of David, set on a high plateau - their breath was taken away with every step when they remembered what Jesus told them:

“See we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be delivered over to the chief priests and the scribes, and they will condemn to death and deliver him over to the Gentiles.  And they will mock him and spit on him, and flog him and kill him.  And after three days he will rise.” - Mark 10:33-34

This was impossible to imagine - and they did not understand the meaning of what he said:  “…and on the third day he will rise.” It was only after his resurrection, that the disciples had the eyes of their hearts open.  Only then did the ink flow freely - describing the wonder and the glory of the love of God!

“By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us…” - 1 John 3:16

"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.” - 1 Peter 1:3

Can we imagine a greater gift?
