How did you come to faith in Jesus Christ?

Any faith journey is a long story, with many things God uses to draw you closer to him. In my life, the final step was through a Bible study led by an assistant pastor at Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church.

Is there a particular person or event in your life that had a big impact on your faith?

I have been blessed by many small groups and Bible studies, including the Navigators Colossians 2:7 study, Blackaby and King's Experiencing God, and CEF Bible Clubs. I was aslo influenced by my experience working in Kosovo numerous times.

How did you find Springton Lake Presbyterian Church?

We are personal friends with Stuart Sacks, a former pastor of the church, and attended Berith Church at Haverford College. We know many people from our time at Berith who are still at Springton Lake.

Tell us about your family. Where did you grow up and have you lived in other places besides Pennsylvania?

I grew up in Tenafly, NJ, which is a north of the George Washington Bridge. I went to college at Johns Hopkins University, Teacher's College at Columbia University, and the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. I spent two years in the Army, from 1969-1971, serving in Korea and at the Walter Reed Army Hospital. Joanne and I married in 1969 and we have two daughters, Carolyn and Jennifer, who both live in Newtown Square. Jennifer's children Jenny, Andy, Ben, and Maggie also worship at Springton Lake. We have lived in the Philadelphia area since 1971 and in the same house since 1974.

What do you do for a living?

I am a retired dentist.

What do you do for fun?

I enjoy being with my family. I also attend Villanova University, taking advantage of free audited courses offered for senior citizens. I enjoy travel, especially doing missionary work in Kosovo. I enjoy the Jersey shore and reading.

How do you see the gifts God gave you at work in your vocation or ministry?

I previously servied on the Board of Trustees at Delaware County Christian School and as an elder at Manoa Community Church. I enjoyed serving in evangelistic efforts (Kosovo and CEF).

What is one thing about you that most people would be surprised to know?

We just returned from an African safari in Kenya.

What aspiration do you have for Springton Lake 10 years from now?

I pray the church continues as a Christ centered, Bible believing church, ministering to people from the cradle to the grave in the community and throughout the world.

What book have you read that you think would be helpful to others?

Besides the Bible, I found Unbroken by Lauren Hildenbrand very inspiring.
