My Summer Internship in Kenya

God is so good!

My name is Bethany Hogan and this summer I was an intern with Chariots for Hope. I was given the opportunity to serve for six weeks in four different Children’s Homes/Orphanages in Kenya. I wanted to share with you – my home church -- some of the things that stood out to me from this experience:

First, I was so blessed to serve alongside the staffs in these different homes. These caregivers were so passionate and devoted in their ministry to the children, and it was encouraging to me to work with them.  It was amazing to witness their humble spirits and Christ-like love in meeting the children’s needs. Their faith in action deeply inspired me and I wanted to emulate their example by keeping it fresh in my mind and heart as I came home.  Thankfully, I was able to make some great connections and formed friendships that will last a long time.

Next, I loved being with the kids so much! These kids truly have the joy of the Lord, and it was wonderful to be with them and to get to know them. Singing, dancing, and playing with these children were just some of my most special moments.  I have no words to describe my delight in being with them.

Lastly, I was so thankful for the opportunity to experience missions for a longer amount of time. The Lord continues to make my calling clear to be a missionary once I graduate from college. To have God’s peace in His purposes for me is a very great blessing in itself.

Overall, this was the best experience of my life!  I am so grateful that God showed me my passion and love for children and youth through this internship. What a joy it is to serve the Lord and His people!

Thank you to everyone who continues to support me and pray for me. I am truly thankful to have so many people invested in my life who are interested in what God is doing in me and through me. You all have impacted me in ways that you will never know, and I am so thankful for each of you!
